Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made a statement regarding the ongoing efforts to locate the individuals who went missing following a landslide at a mine in the İliç district of Erzincan.

Minister Yerlikaya stated the following:

"We have no needs in terms of human resources and personnel. In all assessments made, it is estimated that 5 of the colleagues we are searching for are located inside a container, 3 are inside a vehicle in the same area, and one of our driver brothers is in a truck in a different area.

We are talking about a mass spread over 100 decares. We have an advantage within this mass. We have started searching these masses using metal radar detection for those in vehicles and containers. As soon as we get a trace regarding these vehicles and the container through these radar scans, we want to focus on that area and make progress.

We want to continue the work without compromising the safety of the search and rescue operations. Our prayer and hope is to provide good news. We are working toward this point. Hopefully, it will be our fortune to provide good news. Our media is making an effort to convey the event moment by moment. We thank them. We are constantly providing information to our President and receiving his instructions.

1,708 PERSONNEL ARE ON DUTY

We need to conduct the search rapidly. Our advantage for this is that we can reach them at the depth the radar reaches. We will not stop day or night; we will continue the search and rescue operations. 1,708 personnel are on duty in the region. An administrative and judicial investigation is ongoing regarding the explanation of whether there was a violation or not."
