Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya shared the details of Operation Shield on his X account. Yerlikaya announced that 82 migrant smugglers and 1,222 irregular migrants had been captured.
Yerlikaya stated the following:
"In 62 operations supported by UAVs, helicopters, and gyrocopters, carried out by our Gendarmerie and Police in our border regions across Turkey over the last 3 days, 82 migrant smuggling organizers were captured. 63 of them were arrested. Judicial control decisions were issued for 7 of them. 1,222 irregular migrants were captured in the operations."
