Minister Yerlikaya announced: They committed fraud by claiming to be 'public officials', 18 suspects arrested

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that 18 suspects who posed as public officials were arrested in the "Sibergöz-31" operations.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced the details of the "Sibergöz-31" operations on X.

Yerlikaya stated the following:

"18 suspects were arrested in the simultaneous 'SİBERGÖZ-31' operations conducted against individuals who committed the crime of qualified fraud by posing as public officials in 5 provinces centered in Istanbul, and transferring the money in our citizens' accounts to accounts opened in the names of third parties using deceptive methods!

Under the coordination of the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the General Directorate of Security's Cybercrime Combat Department; in the 'SİBERGÖZ-31' operations carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Cybercrime Combat Branch in Istanbul, Ankara, Mersin, Şanlıurfa, and Batman, it was determined that the suspects;

Persuaded our citizens using deceptive methods by posing as public officials, transferred the money in our citizens' accounts to accounts they opened in the names of third parties under their own control via wire transfer/EFT, and by posing as bank employees and giving various instructions to the individuals they contacted, they obtained a total of 4 million 600 thousand TL in illicit gains in 18 separate incidents according to initial findings."
