Minister Yerlikaya announced it on social media as follows:
“NARKOKAPAN-KONYA”
This morning, we carried out simultaneous raids on 338 different addresses in 12 provinces centered in Konya and detained 421 drug dealers.
Our target in the operation was specifically the street-level dealers, known as “Torbacı” (baggers), who plague our youth, act as the arms and legs of poison traffickers, and sell drugs through internet-based communication platforms and in neighborhoods and streets. The preparations for our operation lasted exactly 4 months.
Throughout these 4 months, we essentially took an X-ray of Konya once again. We carried out our field work and analyses with great meticulousness. We monitored the suspects with technical and physical surveillance. We documented all activities related to the crimes committed one by one.
And this morning, we pressed the button.
Our operations, which were held in 12 provinces including Konya, Ankara, Afyonkarahisar, Niğde, Samsun, Hatay, Bursa, Edirne, Isparta, Istanbul, Kırklareli, and Manisa, involved 3,319 of our police officers, 542 of our teams, 16 specially trained narcotics detector dogs, 1 UAV, and 1 helicopter.
I congratulate our General Directorate of Security, our EGM Narcotics Crimes Combat Department, our Konya Governor, our Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, our Konya Provincial Police Chief, our Narcotics Crimes Combat Branch Directorate, and our police officers.
May God protect them.
Drugs are the greatest enemy of humanity! We will continue to fight on behalf of our country and humanity against the poison traffickers who dare to do this!
