Minister Yerlikaya announces: 'Fake Voice' operation in 6 provinces: 62 fraud suspects apprehended

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced in a post on his social media account that 62 individuals suspected of qualified fraud have been apprehended across 6 provinces.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that a 'Fake Voice' operation was carried out in 6 provinces.

Sharing the details on his social media account, Yerlikaya stated the following:

"As a result of the work carried out by our Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crimes Combat Branch, it was determined that the suspects, who committed the crime of organized qualified fraud;

Placed fake advertisements on various social media sites, introduced themselves as employees of banks or credit institutions in these ads, called citizens under the pretext of providing low-interest loans using identity and contact information they obtained through various means, obtained SMS passwords sent by banks from victims through deceptive methods to take over mobile banking accounts, and transferred the money in the citizens' accounts to the accounts of the organization members. It was determined that the organization obtained millions of liras in illicit gains by carrying out numerous such acts. 42 of the suspects were arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 12 of them."
