Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced in a press statement that permission will not be granted for Taksim on May 1st.

Minister Yerlikaya stated the following:

"40 separate locations and routes have been designated. However, this year, a confederation and some unions continue to make calls both in writing and to meet in Taksim. They have been informed that they will not be granted permission. Terrorist organizations are also calling for people to come to Taksim Square from 54 separate social media accounts. Taksim Square is not among the areas designated for meetings and demonstration marches. The location of Taksim Square is not suitable. It not only makes it difficult to take security measures but also carries serious risks."

Minister Yerlikaya also said that 29 streets and avenues will be closed to traffic.
