Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on his social media account that the "Zaza Doğan" organized crime group has been dismantled as part of the "Cage Operation".
"HANDGUNS AND DRUGS WERE ALSO SEIZED"
The statement is as follows:
"Under the coordination of our General Directorate of Security, Department of Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM), and carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Branch, simultaneous operations were conducted in 4 provinces against the 'ZAZA DOĞAN' organized crime group, led by Doğan Aykut.
It was determined that the organized crime group committed 2 separate murders across Istanbul, shot and wounded 3 individuals with whom they had disputes, established mock courts to settle debt issues and gained financial benefits, fired shots at a total of 6 different workplaces and residences for intimidation purposes, engaged in drug trafficking, made social media posts while carrying firearms to demonstrate the organization's power, and kidnapped and tortured 2 individuals. Simultaneous operations were conducted in the provinces of Istanbul, Muğla, Bursa, and Mersin against the ZAZA DOĞAN organized crime group.
47 suspects were apprehended within the scope of the operations! As of now, 8 handguns and 1 kg of drugs have been seized during the searches conducted as part of the operations."
