Demonstrations in support of Palestine, where Israel is committing genocide, were held at two different locations in Istanbul.

During the second demonstration, hundreds of police officers intervened against the '1000 Youth for Palestine' group, who were chanting "Stop Trade with Israel," and detained dozens of people.

Minister Yerlikaya made a statement on his social media account regarding the events that occurred following the Israel protest in Beyoğlu, Istanbul.

The statement by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya on the matter is as follows:

"Today at 15:30, a protest demonstration was held in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, regarding Israel, which is oppressing our Palestinian brothers and sisters and committing massacres amounting to genocide.

After the protest demonstration ended, the demonstrators dispersed, but one group did not disperse despite all warnings; they insulted state officials and resisted security forces.

Regarding the incident, 43 individuals were apprehended; 38 were released after identity checks, and judicial proceedings were initiated for 5 individuals after their statements were taken.

Furthermore, 2 police officers have been suspended in connection with the incident, and a civil inspector has been immediately assigned. Developments regarding the matter will be shared with the public."
