Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made statements on his social media account following the 'counterfeit dollar' crisis that has become a matter of public agenda.
Yerlikaya shared the details of the operations conducted regarding the crimes of 'counterfeiting currency.'
"2 PRINTING HOUSES UNCOVERED"
Yerlikaya included the following statements in his post:
"In the first 10 months of 2024, a total of 340 operations were carried out against the crime of 'counterfeiting currency,' 32 of which were planned.
In the operations; 104 suspects were arrested. Judicial control decisions were issued for 48 suspects.
As a result of the operations carried out by the Provincial Police Departments' Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch Directorates, under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and the General Directorate of Security's KOM Department:
Counterfeit money worth 1 million 479 thousand 260 TL, 352 thousand 576 US Dollars, and 3 million 613 thousand 550 Euros was seized.
Additionally, 2 printing houses used in the production of counterfeit money were uncovered.
