Minister Yerlikaya's statement on fake diplomas and driver's licenses: Arrests made

Interior Minister Yerlikaya issues a statement regarding arrests related to fake diplomas and driver's licenses.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided detailed information regarding operations conducted against fake diplomas and driver's licenses via his social media account.

Yerlikaya spoke about the detentions and arrests carried out within the scope of these operations.

Making a statement under the heading "Operations regarding fake diplomas and driver's licenses," Yerlikaya used the following expressions:

A total of 197 suspects were apprehended in 2 operations held simultaneously in 23 provinces on January 7, 2025, and in 16 provinces on May 23, 2025; 37 of these suspects were arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 150.

Regarding the issue of producing e-signatures with fake documents and gaining illegal access to public systems;

In the 1st Wave of Operations

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by our Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crimes of Forgery of Official Documents, Violation of the Law on Measurement, Selection and Placement Center Services, and Unauthorized Access to Information Systems, as a result of the work carried out by our Ankara Provincial Police Department's Anti-Cyber Crime Branch;

It was determined that electronic signature applications and production were made on behalf of individuals working in public institutions and organizations using fake driver's licenses and Turkish ID cards through the branches/offices of electronic certificate service provider companies named TÜRKTRUST and E-İMZATR in Adana, Mersin, Hatay, Ankara, and Istanbul,

Upon the determination that illegal transactions were carried out by gaining unauthorized access to public institution systems with the aforementioned e-signatures;

126 suspects were apprehended in operations held simultaneously in 23 provinces centered in Ankara on January 7, 2025. 17 of the suspects were arrested.

In the 2nd Wave of Operations

Within the scope of the investigation conducted for the crimes of "Forgery of Official Documents, Violation of the Law on Measurement, Selection and Placement Center Services, Unauthorized Access to Information Systems, obstructing, disrupting, making inaccessible, destroying or altering data in an information system, and violation of the electronic signature law";

61 suspects were apprehended in operations held simultaneously in 16 provinces on May 23, 2025. 20 were arrested.

10 wanted suspects were apprehended after the operations.

The criminal organization has been dismantled and its members have been arrested.

As a result of the work carried out;

57 fake diplomas,

108 fake driver's licenses, and

4 fake high school graduation certificates were identified.

We continue our operations with determination to ensure that no crime or criminal goes unpunished.
