Minister Yumaklı: Fires in Hatay, İzmir, and Manisa are partially under control

Minister Yumaklı has provided information that the fire in İzmir, which has been ongoing for nearly three days due to intense winds, has been partially brought under control. Yumaklı shared the latest developments regarding the fires across the country.

The statement by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı regarding the forest fires is as follows:

We particularly emphasize three sensitivities regarding the fires; we know that high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds pose a major risk for fires. This occurred in Hatay; since the fire began, the temperature has risen above 33 degrees. Wind speeds exceeded 67 kilometers per hour—this was measured, but we know it reached over 100 kilometers—and humidity dropped below 22 percent. We are responding with over 2,700 personnel, and as a precaution, we have moved over 1,400 citizens from 6 neighborhoods to safe areas. Cooling efforts have now begun there. I am sharing this good news that the Hatay Antakya fire is partially under control.

The fires in İzmir's Seferihisar and Menderes districts have also been partially brought under control. Cooling efforts will continue. There is a fire in Buca, which has been completely brought under control.

In Manisa, the fires in Akhisar and Kula have been partially brought under control. Cooling efforts will continue there as well. Ahmetli was a problematic area in terms of geographical conditions; response efforts will continue throughout the night.

For the fires here, we have responded with 13 aircraft, 29 helicopters, over 435 vehicles, and over 1,500 personnel. We do not expect any problems in Bilecik either.

We would like to make a call to all our citizens. Let us make these updates to protect our 'green homeland'; there are conditions that require us to remain on high alert for a week, until October 15, 2025. Therefore, let us not light fires in open areas, let us not throw fire into open areas, and let us not leave materials that could potentially start a fire under the sun.
