Minister Yumaklı provides update on forest fires: Brought under control

Turkey continues to battle forest fires. Fires that broke out in many provinces yesterday have turned forests to ash, while teams are making intense efforts from both the air and the ground.
MINISTER YUMAKLI ANNOUNCES LATEST SITUATION
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced in a statement that the forest fires in Ezine (Çanakkale), Enez (Edirne), Yayladağı (Hatay), and Şehzadeler (Manisa) have been completely brought under control.
The fires in Mudurnu (Bolu), Göksun (Kahramanmaraş), Ayvacık (Çanakkale), and Dikili (İzmir) are also largely under control. While the intensity of the fire in Soma (Manisa) has been reduced, an intense struggle against the flames continues in the center of Çanakkale.
FIRE IN HATAY EXTINGUISHED AT FIRST LIGHT
The fire that broke out for an as-yet-undetermined reason yesterday in a forested area near the Syrian border in the Arslanyazı neighborhood of Hatay's Yayladağı district was brought under control through ground intervention by Regional Directorate of Forestry teams and Metropolitan Municipality firefighters throughout the night.
Aerial firefighting efforts, which were paused when it got dark, resumed with the deployment of helicopters at the first light of morning. As a result of intense efforts, the fire was completely extinguished in the morning hours.
