Ministry announces number of personnel to be on duty for New Year's

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that security measures for the New Year's period have been taken with the participation of all institutions across the country.

Stating that all units, primarily the Police and Gendarmerie forces, the Coast Guard Command, the Presidency of Migration Management, and AFAD, will act in coordination, Yerlikaya announced that the measures will be implemented without interruption for four days between December 30, 2025, and January 2, 2026.

He stated that the preparations carried out within this scope have been ongoing uninterrupted for approximately one month.

Sharing details on his social media account regarding the work carried out before and after the New Year, Yerlikaya made the following statements:

"Our operations continue against terrorist organizations that try to legitimize violence by exploiting our faith. With the operations we have organized across our country, 306 thousand liters of illicit and counterfeit alcohol have been seized in the last month, and legal action has been taken against 816 suspects. Within the scope of the fight against drugs, 3,406 individuals have been arrested in the last month; 3.5 tons of narcotics and 14 million drug pills have been seized. Again, in the last month, a total of 19,616 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants have been apprehended, including 2,708 for theft, 297 for intentional homicide, 433 for sexual crimes, and 3,218 for narcotics-related crimes, along with other offenses."

"A TOTAL OF 325 THOUSAND 267 OF OUR PERSONNEL HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED"

Touching upon the number of teams and personnel who will be on duty in the field within the scope of New Year's measures, Yerlikaya stated that the Police, Gendarmerie, and Coast Guard units will work intensively for four days and shared the following information:

"12,687 inspection points have been established. A total of 325,267 of our personnel have been assigned. 298 thousand of these will serve in public order, and 27 thousand will serve in traffic. A total of 44,068 of our teams, 34,071 of which are for public order and 9,997 for traffic, will perform their duties in the field. 720 air and 238 maritime assets, along with 430 detector dogs, will be actively present in the field."

Emphasizing that security measures are also supported by technological systems, Yerlikaya continued his statement as follows:

"31,424 KGYS (City Security Management System) points and 107,423 cameras, 4,366 License Plate Recognition System points and 15,539 LPR cameras, 1,064 Mobile License Plate Recognition Systems, and 6,708 facial recognition cameras are actively used in the system. In addition, 115,854 law enforcement officers on duty for traffic and public order will be equipped with body cameras. Regarding New Year's Eve and the following days, our AFAD Presidency has made its duty planning on a 24/7 basis, as always.

A 'be ready' message has been sent to our 81 Provincial AFAD Directorates and 20 Union Directorates. On New Year's Eve, a total of 1,410 personnel and 396 vehicles will be on duty in our 81 provinces and with our units. Within the scope of New Year's measures, our Presidency of Migration Management has increased its measures in the fight against irregular migration to the highest level. Our 375 Mobile Migration Point Vehicles in 81 provinces have been operational on a 24/7 basis as of December 22, 2025. 4,575 of our personnel will continue their duties uninterrupted for 10 days.

Our inspections continue in crowded areas in city centers, at inspection points at the entrances and exits of cities, at bus terminals, train stations, and airports, and in parks, gardens, and beaches. We hope that 2026 will bring health, peace, and well-being to our country and our nation, and peace to all oppressed geographies, especially Gaza."
