Ministry of Environment fines municipality for illegal discharge into Lake Van
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has imposed a fine of 1 million 161 thousand 568 Turkish Lira on the Van Metropolitan Municipality after it was determined that illegal discharge was being made into Lake Van.

In a post shared on the ministry's social media account, it was reported that an administrative fine of 1 million 161 thousand 568 Turkish Lira was imposed on the Van Metropolitan Municipality on the grounds that the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant was making illegal discharges into Lake Van.
The post included the following statements:
"As a result of the inspection carried out by our Ministry's Provincial Directorate teams at the discharge point belonging to the Van Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, it was determined that illegal discharge was being made into Lake Van. In accordance with the relevant Environmental Law, an administrative fine of 1 million 161 thousand 568 Turkish Lira has been imposed on the Van Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate."
