Ministry of Health launches 'National Tissue and Cell Banking' system
The Regulation on Products Derived from Human Tissues and Cells and Centers Related to These Products, concerning the Ministry of Health's "National Tissue and Cell Banking" system, has been published in the Official Gazette.

The Ministry of Health is launching the National Tissue and Cell Banking System. Henceforth, in surgeries and treatments, domestically produced products derived from patients' own cells and tissues or raw materials obtained from suitable donors will be used instead of imported tissue and cell products. In this way, the risk of immune system rejection will be minimized and treatment success rates will be increased. Products will be manufactured using domestic resources at Cell and Tissue Product Manufacturing Centers to be established across the country. Thanks to the Cell and Tissue Product Manufacturing Centers, domestic production capacity will be increased and dependence on foreign sources will be significantly reduced.
PRODUCTION, APPLICATION, AND TREATMENT PROCESSES WILL BE MONITORED DIGITALLY
The Ministry of Health will monitor the entire process of products from production to the usage stage in a digital environment to ensure that treatments are applied safely. With the developed tracking system, it will be securely recorded and monitored in a digital environment which product was applied to which patient, where, and by whom.
PRODUCTION SAFETY WILL BE ENSURED
Raw materials derived from human tissues and cells will be collected under high biosafety standards. Production will be carried out in Cell and Tissue Product Manufacturing Centers under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK). Thus, production safety and product quality will be maximized.
NEW TREATMENT METHODS WILL BE DEVELOPED
Personalized treatment products will be developed through studies conducted under the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the coordination of the Health Institutes of Turkey (TÜSEB). This will also contribute to the development of new treatment methods and the increase of product diversity. With products to be produced specifically for individuals, which are the treatments of the future, the treatment efficacy for patients will be brought to the highest levels.
Treatment needs will be determined by physicians, and prescribed products will be delivered to citizens through hospital pharmacies, authorized centers, and the State Supply Office (DMO). Patients' access to products and treatments will be provided under safe and appropriate conditions by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
