Ministry of National Defense announces: New air operation conducted in northern Iraq

The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced that an air operation was conducted on October 24 at 23:30 against terrorist targets in Hakurk, Gara, Qandil, and Sinjar in northern Iraq, and that 34 targets, including caves, bunkers, shelters, depots, and facilities used by the terrorist organization, which were assessed to contain terrorists at the leadership level, were destroyed.

The statement from the Ministry of National Defense included the following: “In order to neutralize the PKK/KCK and other terrorist elements, to eliminate terrorist attacks against our people and security forces, and to ensure our border security; in accordance with our legitimate self-defense rights arising from Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, an air operation was carried out on October 24, 2024, at 23:30 against terrorist targets in Hakurk, Gara, Qandil, and Sinjar in northern Iraq. With this air operation, 34 targets, including caves, bunkers, shelters, depots, and facilities used by the Separatist Terrorist Organization (BTÖ), which were assessed to contain terrorists at the leadership level, were destroyed.”

The statement, which emphasized determination in the fight against terrorism, said: “In the operation, a large number of terrorists were neutralized by using the maximum amount of domestic and national ammunition.

The Turkish Armed Forces, which emerged from the heart of our noble nation, will continue the fight against terrorism with determination and resolve for the survival and security of our country and nation, just as in the past, until not a single terrorist remains.

During these operations, every measure has been taken to ensure that innocent civilians, friendly elements, historical and cultural assets, and the environment are not harmed.”
