In a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, it was stated: "On October 12, 2023, Infantry Petty Officer Senior Sergeant Musa Esat Kaya was martyred as a result of harassing fire by members of the separatist terrorist organization on one of our base areas in the Operation Claw-Lock region. We wish God's mercy upon our dear martyr who lost his life in this incident that has plunged us into deep pain and sorrow, and we extend our condolences and patience to his grieving family, the Turkish Armed Forces, and our noble nation."
