The Ministry of National Defense (MSB) announced today that Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Ahmet Tuğay was martyred due to a brain hemorrhage he suffered while on duty. The statement from the Ministry is as follows:
"We wish God's mercy upon our heroic comrade-in-arms who fell as a martyr on February 13, 2024, and extend our condolences to his family and loved ones. May our nation be comforted."

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya made the following post on his social media account:
"Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Ahmet TUĞAY, serving at the Adıyaman Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Gendarmerie Special Operations Battalion Command, has been martyred due to a brain hemorrhage suffered while on duty. I wish God's mercy upon our martyr; I extend my condolences to his grieving family, our heroic Gendarmerie Organization, and our Nation. May his place be high."
