The statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense included the following:
"Our heroic comrade-in-arms, Naval Lieutenant Mustafa Kemal ÖZ, who was injured as a result of an accident that occurred during training at the Underwater Defense Command in Riva, Beykoz / Istanbul on November 5, 2024, could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital to which he was immediately taken, and has been martyred.
We wish God's mercy upon our dear martyr who lost his life in this incident that has plunged us into deep pain and sorrow; we extend our condolences and patience to his grieving family, the Turkish Armed Forces, and our noble nation."
