Ministry of Trade announces: Drug operation at Taşucu and Çeşme ports

The Ministry of Trade, Customs Enforcement teams announced that 1 million 681 thousand captagon pills and 40 kilograms of cocaine were seized in two separate operations conducted at the ports of Taşucu and Çeşme.

In the statement made by the Ministry, it was noted that the fight against smuggling is continuing at full speed across the country by the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Trade.

Within the scope of the fight against smuggling activities, as a result of risk analysis and targeting studies carried out across the country, suspicious trucks arriving to enter Turkey were placed under scrutiny.

Following customs procedures, suspicious density was detected in the trailers of the vehicles sent to the X-Ray scanning system, and detailed searches conducted with the participation of narcotic detector dogs revealed captagon and cocaine-type drugs hidden within legal cargo in various ways.

As a result of the successful operations of the Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams, 1 million 681 thousand captagon pills were seized at the Port of Mersin, and 40 kilograms of cocaine-type narcotics were seized at the Port of Çeşme.

Investigations have been launched into the incidents before the Silifke and Çeşme Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices. The statement concluded, "The Customs Enforcement Organization continues its determination not to give any leeway to drug traffickers who threaten public health and public order and who try to drag our youth into the quagmire of drugs."
