The Ministry of Family and Social Services has issued a statement regarding reports appearing in some media outlets under the headline "21-month-old baby dies by choking in care home."
The statement noted, "After personnel at the Children's Homes Site in İzmit, Kocaeli, noticed that the child sleeping in their bed was not breathing, immediate first aid was administered by facility staff, and our child was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Despite all interventions, our child who was taken to the hospital could not be saved and lost their life.
A judicial and administrative investigation has been immediately launched regarding the incident, and an inspector has been assigned by our ministry for a detailed examination.
The exact cause of our child's death will be determined as a result of the autopsy, and necessary actions will be taken according to the results of the investigation," the statement said.
