MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın gives 'FETÖ' presentation to Özgür Özel and the CHP Central Executive Board

MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın delivered the presentation at the CHP Headquarters today, which had been indicated to take place this week. MIT Chief Kalın arrived at the CHP Headquarters this morning and met with the MYK delegation led by CHP leader Özel. Not all MYK members were present in the delegation.

Kalın’s presentation lasted approximately three hours.

CONFIDENTIALITY AT HEADQUARTERS

According to ANKA, Kalın’s visit to the Headquarters was not announced to the press, and the meeting, which began around 10:30 AM, was held in confidentiality. While no striking security measures were observed in the building, no one other than the meeting participants was allowed on the floor where the meeting took place, and elevators to certain floors were disabled. However, it was observed that official and plainclothes MIT security personnel took precautions outside the building during the meeting.

ÖZEL HAD REQUESTED THE PRESENTATION FROM KALIN

It had previously emerged that MIT Chief İbrahim Kalın attended an AK Party MYK meeting chaired by President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Tuesday, October 22, following the death of Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) ringleader Fetullah Gülen, to give a presentation to AK Party board members regarding FETÖ; CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, CHP Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel, MYK members, and deputies had criticized this situation.

CHP Leader Özel had sent a letter to MIT Chief Kalın, conveying that they expected him to give a presentation to the CHP as well. Regarding the message he sent, Özel had stated:

“I had written a letter to the MIT Chief. He had given a presentation at the AK Party Headquarters. I said, ‘What did you present? What is there that they need to know but we do not? Why shouldn't we know? If the AK Party has weaknesses it needs to know about regarding this FETÖ issue, tell them. If information regarding security and intelligence is being shared with the country's second-largest party, why are you withholding it from the largest party?’ Mr. MIT Chief had politely told me during the October 29 ceremonies that he had received the letter and would respond quickly. We are waiting for that response.”

ÖZEL HAD ANNOUNCED IT

In a program he recently attended, Özel stated that MIT Chief Kalın would come to the CHP Headquarters this week to give a presentation, saying, “I first greeted Mr. İbrahim Kalın with great courtesy at the October 29 ceremony, then he turned and came to me and said, ‘I received your letter, you are right, let us come at a suitable time and give a presentation, we would like to give a presentation.’ Within the coming week, that is, the week we are entering, the MIT Chief will come to the CHP and give a presentation and answer our questions. We did not set an agenda.”

ABB ALLEGATIONS

On November 7, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had stated that they had received reports that an instruction had been given to the MIT to investigate the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) under the shadow of the trustee debate. Özel said, "Today, I would like to address the MIT Chief. I do not believe such a thing would happen within the hierarchy of the MIT, but I have heard that there is an approach from someone in the Palace to the MIT saying, 'Oh sir, investigate some things, involve the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in these matters too.' I expect the MIT Chief to show sensitivity regarding this issue and inform me, my party, and all political parties that need to know—as it is not right to discriminate between parties commissioned by the nation."
