MIT Chief Kalın visits Iraq

According to information obtained from security sources, National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief İbrahim Kalın traveled to Erbil, Iraq, today to hold bilateral talks.

MIT Chief Kalın met with KDP Leader Masoud Barzani, KRG President Nechirvan Barzani, KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, KRG Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, KRG Interior Minister Reber Ahmed, and officials from the KRG Security Council in Erbil.

During the bilateral meetings, the latest situation in the region following the war between Iran and Israel, and the steps to be taken to ensure regional peace and stability were discussed.

One of the most important topics on the table during the meetings was the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process. In this context, steps to be taken in the coming period to clear the entire region of terrorism and remove terrorism from the regional agenda were discussed.

Furthermore, the security of the Turkmens and their role in political processes were discussed in detail during the meetings, and it was conveyed that Turkey stands with the Iraqi Turkmens.

Additionally, it was emphasized that contacts with the Central Iraqi Administration and KRG authorities will continue to be increased in the coming period.
