A significant document has been brought to light in the “Special Collection” section on the official website of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT). The document reveals in detail the intelligence activities carried out by Thomas Edward Lawrence, the legendary agent of British intelligence known as “Lawrence of Arabia,” who assumed various disguises in the Middle East in 1929.

In the report in question, written by the National Security Service Presidency and dated September 23, 1929, it is stated that Lawrence carried out secret missions in Egypt, Syria, and Iraq under many false names. The document was sent to the General Staff Headquarters as well as the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, and also includes a photograph of Lawrence in military uniform.

The original text states the following:

“I present in the second article the verified and confirmed information received from Syria and Palestine regarding the Masonic club in Cairo. It is understood that the famous spy Colonel Lawrence, one of the British Intelligence Service chiefs, after staying for a while in Egypt two months ago under the pseudonym Sheikh Abdullah, moved to Syria and Iraq, arrived suddenly in Jerusalem during the past month of August, and is currently in the city of Khartoum, Sudan. It has been confirmed by the statements of many reliable individuals that during his time in Jerusalem, Lawrence would sometimes come to the vicinity of the Wailing Wall (Buraki Sharif) dressed as a Muslim cleric under the name Sheikh Abdullah, and at other times as an American Jewish rabbi under the name Yakos Iskinazi, where he would incite excitement by spreading poisonous propaganda to the Muslims and Jews in the area at different times, thereby preparing the ground for the current massacre in Palestine.

Neither the Intelligence Service center nor the imperialist organization is satisfied with the policy of the Labor Party currently in power. The goal is to stage a revolution in Palestine before MacDonald’s intention to grant independence to Palestine, following Egypt, can be put into practice, thereby aiming to prove that they are not worthy of independence. It is also asserted that Lawrence’s departure for the Sudan region is highly noteworthy and related to mysterious arrangements. Therefore, at a time when this reconciliation project is being presented to the Egyptian people, the Intelligence Service organization will create disturbances in Egypt to prove that Egypt is not yet worthy of this favor, and in this way, by weakening the MacDonald cabinet in the British Parliament, it will settle back into the heart of Egypt as it did before. The best environment for creating and organizing disturbances in Egypt at the present time is Sudan. Since there is currently only British administration and British administrators filled with imperialist ambitions in Sudan, and because Sudan has a permanent connection with Egypt, it is a very simple matter to prepare an assassination in Sudan that is very safe for Egypt and to introduce trained agents into Egypt to carry out negative propaganda and sabotage.”

This disclosed document offers a striking example of the political turmoil in the region during the early 20th century, the international intelligence actors involved, and the covert operational methods used under the conditions of that era. It is noteworthy that Lawrence’s activities were not limited to gathering information but also aimed at provocative actions and propaganda within the societies he infiltrated.

This report, shared from the MIT archives, reveals the secret actors of Middle Eastern history and their behind-the-scenes maneuvers.
