Mother of school attacker in Kahramanmaraş arrested

A significant development has occurred in the school attack at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in Kahramanmaraş, which resulted in the loss of nine lives.

Following the arrest of the perpetrator İsa Aras Mersinli's father, his mother, Peyman Pınar Mersinli, has also been arrested.

According to the information obtained, Peyman Pınar Mersinli, who had an outstanding arrest warrant, was detained after being stopped at a police checkpoint while traveling by vehicle on the Malatya-Elazığ Highway.

After completing procedures at the police station, the suspect was referred to the Malatya Courthouse, where she was brought before the duty magistrate on duty with a request for arrest on charges of "manslaughter by negligence" after her statement was taken.

Peyman Pınar Mersinli, who was arrested by the court, was sent to the Akçadağ T-Type Closed Prison.

FATHER HAD BEEN ARRESTED

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek had previously announced in a television interview that the father had been arrested and that the mother was being interrogated.

The attacker's father, Uğur Mersinli, had also been arrested previously.

REPORTS ABOUT THE MOTHER HAD APPEARED IN THE PRESS

On the other hand, reports had appeared in the press that mother Mersinli had hung up the phone on the school's guidance counselor, Ejder İ., who had called to discuss her son's psychological problems.

It was alleged that the family had assessed their child as being "excessively intelligent" and therefore experiencing adjustment problems; this approach was reportedly reflected in both the father's statement to the prosecutor's office and the 'manifesto' allegedly written by the attacker.

WHAT HAPPENED?

In the attack that took place at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in Kahramanmaraş on April 15, 1 teacher and 8 students lost their lives, and 13 people were injured, 3 of them seriously.

The attacker lost his life during the incident.
