MP who resigned from İYİ Party joins AK Party

Kayseri MP Dursun Ataş, who resigned from the İYİ Party in September, has joined the ranks of the AKP. President Erdoğan pinned the party badge on Ataş.

Dursun Ataş, who was nominated by the İYİ Party and elected as a Member of Parliament for Kayseri, had resigned from his party in September.

It had been alleged that Dursun Ataş, who had been serving as an independent MP since then, was turning toward the ruling party. It was confirmed today that Ataş has joined the ranks of the AKP.

Ataş attended the AKP Group Meeting today, where his new party badge was pinned on him by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In a brief speech at the meeting hall, Ataş said, “May the decision we have taken be auspicious for our Kayseri, our hometown, our country, and the Turkish nation.

EXODUS FROM İYİ PARTY

The first resignation from the İYİ Party began on November 2, 2023, with the defection of İYİ Party Eskişehir MP İdris Nebi Hatipoğlu to the AKP.

On December 6, 2023, İYİ Party Istanbul MP Ayşe Sibel Yanıkömeroğlu announced her resignation from her party. On April 24, 2024, Özgür Özel announced at the CHP group meeting that Ayşe Sibel Yanıkömeroğlu had joined the CHP.

On May 31, 2024, İYİ Party Antalya MP Aykut Kaya announced his resignation from his party. On June 4, 2024, CHP leader Özgür Özel announced at the CHP group meeting that Aykut Kaya had joined the CHP.

Nimet Özdemir, an MP who resigned from the İYİ Party in July, also joined the CHP on October 8.
