Muazzez Abacı's ex-husband Hasan Heybetli found dead in prison: Known as the last 'kabadayı'
Hasan Heybetli (75), who was serving a 25-year prison sentence for the 2009 murder of businessman Fatih Edremit and was most recently held at the İzmir No. 2 F-Type Prison, has been found dead in his cell. Heybetli was also the former husband of artist Muazzez Abacı.

According to a report by Dinçer Gökçe from Halk TV, Hasan Heybetli was found dead in his cell yesterday evening around 19:00.
It was noted that the last contact prison officials had with Heybetli was around 18:45.
It was learned that the duty prosecutor went to the prison due to Hasan Heybetli's death. Three separate sources close to the matter provided information that Heybetli's death was a 'natural death'.
WHO IS HASAN HEYBETLİ?
Hasan Heybetli became engaged to Muazzez Abacı in 1979. The couple married in 1980. This marriage lasted 3 years. The pair married once again in 1989. Their second marriage ended in 1993. Hasan Heybetli was born in Siirt in 1950. His father was the 'kabadayı' (tough guy) Hüseyin Heybetli, known as 'Arap Hüso'. He has a brother named Cengiz Heybetli.
Making a name for himself in Istanbul's underworld in the 1970s, Hasan Heybetli was involved in numerous incidents of assault and raiding venues. During this period, he entered and exited prison multiple times. In the 1990s, he moved away from Turkey and lived abroad, primarily in the USA. In 2004, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison in an attempted extortion case that also involved singer Kader Çetintürk.
In 2009, he was tried on charges of murdering Fatih Edremit, a currency exchange office owner, at the Polat Residence in Şişli, Istanbul. The court sentenced Hasan Heybetli to 25 years in prison for 'intentional homicide' and 10 months for 'carrying an unlicensed firearm'. This verdict was upheld by the Court of Cassation, and he began serving his sentence at the Edirne F-Type Prison.
Hasan Heybetli, who contracted prostate cancer while in prison, was transferred to the prisoner ward of the Edirne Faculty of Medicine Hospital in 2014. There, he received treatment for prostate cancer in the Urology department and for heart disease in the Cardiology department.
