Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and many of his colleagues were detained in dawn operations. Reactions to the operations are growing like an avalanche.
Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce also reacted harshly to the detentions.
İnce said, "The operations carried out today are not operations of a state of law, but of a state of lawlessness."
Sharing his thoughts on his social media account, İnce stated the following:
"A state of law is a state where rules do not change according to you or me, but are applied equally to everyone. If what is forbidden to me is not forbidden to you, or if I am punished under a legal provision for which you are not, then there is no state of law. The operations carried out today are not operations of a state of law, but of a state of lawlessness. Detention/arrest decisions made against political rivals are exactly the kind of decisions that befit a state of lawlessness. If you choose to be a state of lawlessness instead of a state of law, you will become 10 percent poorer in a day, fuel inflation, drive away investments, and cause unemployment to explode. No one who loves their country even a little bit can do this."
