Muhittin Böcek and his son's effective remorse testimony revealed

It has been alleged that Muhittin Böcek, who was suspended from his post as Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, and his son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek, testified by benefiting from the provisions of "effective remorse" as part of an investigation conducted by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

TESTIMONY PROCESS LASTED 8.5 HOURS

According to information reported by İHA, the testimony process, which began yesterday at 18:35, continued throughout the night and was completed around 03:00 in the morning. It was stated that as part of the investigation, Mustafa Gökhan Böcek testified to the prosecutor's office first, followed by Muhittin Böcek.

It was learned that both suspects provided detailed statements in the presence of their lawyers during the proceedings held at the Chief Public Prosecutor's building. It was noted that during the testimony process, questions were directed regarding the allegations in the file, evidence, and various issues within the scope of the investigation.

INVESTIGATION REPORTED TO BE ONGOING

Officials stated that the investigation is being conducted in a multi-faceted manner and that the judicial process regarding the file is ongoing.

EFFECTIVE REMORSE TESTIMONIES REVEALED

In his testimony to the prosecutor, Gökhan Böcek alleged that CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba called him upon the instruction of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and demanded 1 million euros for his father, Muhittin Böcek, to be nominated again.

Stating that he conveyed the situation to his father, Gökhan Böcek said that Muhittin Böcek told him, "Do what is necessary." Böcek claimed that the money in question was delivered to Veli Ağbaba through an intermediary.

ALLEGATION OF "200 THOUSAND DOLLARS GIVEN IN A BAG"

Gökhan Böcek also alleged that during Özgür Özel's visit to Antalya, 200 thousand dollars were delivered in a bag with his father's knowledge. Stating that 15 million liras of support were provided to the party during the Konyaaltı Mayoral election process, Böcek said, "During the Kılıçdaroğlu era, support money would come to us from the headquarters. In this last period, however, we gave it to the headquarters."

"MY SON'S STATEMENT IS TRUE"

In his testimony to the prosecutor, Muhittin Böcek claimed that after a speech made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at a meeting, he thought the party headquarters might have requests for financial and moral support within the scope of candidacy and campaign efforts, and for this reason, he spoke to his son Gökhan Böcek to assist him in necessary matters.

Stating that some time before the candidacy process, his son came to him and said that he was called by Veli Ağbaba in line with Özgür Özel's request and that 1 million euros were demanded, Muhittin Böcek stated that he then told his son, "You do what is necessary."

Muhittin Böcek said, "My son Gökhan's statement that 1 million euros were demanded is true."

"I DO NOT KNOW THE DETAILS OF THIS MATTER"

At the prosecutor's office, Muhittin Böcek was also asked about Gökhan Böcek's statement regarding the 200 thousand dollars given during the launch in Antalya.

Regarding this, Muhittin Böcek said, "I do not know the details of this matter, but as I explained above, I had informed him that if the headquarters had a request in this direction, it should be met. I had previously instructed Gökhan to meet the requests during the election campaign."

ON APRIL 3, HE HAD SAID, 'IF I GAVE 1 KURUS FOR CANDIDACY, I AM DISHONORABLE'

On the other hand, a letter Muhittin Böcek sent from prison on April 3 has come to the agenda again.

Reacting harshly to the allegations that he paid money during the candidacy process, Böcek had denied the allegations against him with the following words:

"I have experienced the candidacy process 6 times; if I gave 1 kurus for candidacy, I am dishonorable. But those who write, draw, or provide false information, including on social media, to slander and defame me to you, to our Minister Mr. Akın Gürlek, and to the public, are base, dishonorable, and unscrupulous if they cannot prove it."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

As part of the "bribery" and "corruption" investigation conducted by the Antalya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek was arrested on July 5, 2025.

Later in the investigation, his son Gökhan Böcek and former Provincial Police Chief İlker Arslan were also arrested. It was revealed recently that Gökhan Böcek had testified under the scope of "effective remorse."

It was stated that in his testimony, Gökhan Böcek alleged, "I was called personally by Veli Ağbaba upon the instruction of Özgür Özel. I spoke with Veli Ağbaba. They said they wanted support from me for the CHP headquarters, and 1 million euros were demanded from me."

It was also reported that Böcek claimed he gave the money to CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba through an intermediary, and used the expressions, "When I asked why this money was wanted, Veli Ağbaba said it was wanted for my father Muhittin Böcek's Metropolitan Mayoral candidacy."

It was noted that Böcek, who also touched upon the election process in his testimony, said, "Before these events, since we had entered the election process, my father Muhittin Böcek told me, 'The headquarters will have requests for financial and moral support; you will handle these during this election time.' When Veli Ağbaba called, I did not feel the need to ask my father again about the demand for 1 million euros."
