In a message posted on his social media account, Böcek stated the following: "Every Eid morning has its own unique silence. After our Eid prayer, the streets gradually come alive with our children.

There are queues at the bagel bakery, greetings are exchanged, and once it is their turn for bagels, people rush home to meet with our elders, children, and neighbors at the table. On one hand, there is the joy of the holiday; on the other, those we have lost. Our hearts ache for the absence of our mothers, fathers, and older siblings; words get stuck in our throats and we fall silent, we get emotional and cry in secret, and we can never fill the void of their absence.

For 32 years, our dear friends, whom we left a mark on with our small touches in every field regardless of whether it was our official duty, would grab their phones, and our phone would never stop ringing.

Unfortunately, I have been in custody for 11 months, longing for you during this Eid al-Adha. It devastates me that I cannot be at the gravesides of my brother, my mother, and my father, whom I lost 51 years ago when I was in the 8th grade, and that I cannot pray for them. Furthermore, my children who have served day and night for nearly 30 years, my advisor, my son, and my daughter-in-law are also in custody; they cannot sacrifice an animal either; they are far from their children, spouses, fathers, mothers, and loved ones."

Noting that he believes justice will be served, Böcek said, "I have never felt this pained, sad, and hurt in any period of my life. With my faith in the state and justice, my tone, my courtesy, and my stance, I believe that justice will be served in a short time."
