Ergün Günaydın, a member of the Doğanşehir Municipal Council in Malatya, has joined the AKP following his departure from the CHP last year.

In the Doğanşehir district of Malatya, AKP Metropolitan Mayor Sami Er pinned the party badge on Municipal Council Member Ergün Günaydın, who resigned from the Republican People's Party (CHP) last year, during a visit to the AKP Doğanşehir District Headquarters.

In his statement there, Mayor Er said, “We had a call at the opening of the council: ‘Come, let us not waste our time with unnecessary political debates, let us meet on the common ground of Malatya.’ Our council is working in harmony and decisions are mostly taken unanimously. Mr. Ergün also stated that he wanted to join our party, saying, ‘You are a fair, transparent, and accountable administration. I am always with you.’ I was very pleased with his participation. May it be auspicious.”

Ergün Günaydın had previously announced on social media after leaving the CHP last year, “Due to the necessity I have seen, I am resigning from my membership in the Republican People's Party and will continue to serve as an independent Metropolitan and Doğanşehir municipal council member for you, my valued constituents. I will make the necessary press statement in the coming days.”
