Municipal police officer kills colleague with 7 stab wounds in Antalya

In Antalya, a municipal police officer severely wounded his colleague by stabbing him multiple times in the back and neck. The officer lost his life while being transported to the hospital.

Antalya A 36-year-old municipal police officer working at the Muratpaşa Municipality severely wounded his 60-year-old colleague with 7 stab wounds to the back and neck, alleging that he had been subjected to mobbing. The wounded officer lost his life while being transported to the hospital.

The incident occurred in front of a business on 12th Street in the Meydankavağı neighborhood of the Muratpaşa district. According to the information obtained, Erdal V. (36), who works as a municipal police officer at the Muratpaşa Municipality, began stabbing his colleague İsmail Kanmaz (60) in the back while he was sitting in front of a kiosk, claiming that Kanmaz had been subjecting him to mobbing. Erdal V. caught up with Kanmaz, who was trying to flee after the first 2 stab wounds, and struck him with 5 more stab wounds to the back and neck area. Meanwhile, bystanders who intervened in the fight took the knife from Erdal V.'s hand and threw it into a trash container. Those who saw Kanmaz collapse to the ground covered in blood called medical teams for help. İsmail Kanmaz, who received initial intervention at the scene by medical teams, lost his life in the ambulance while being transported to the hospital.

The suspect, Erdal V., who did not leave the scene, surrendered to the police teams.

One of the eyewitnesses to the incident said, “Suddenly there were noises, I rushed outside. They had been fighting. Both of them were municipal police officers. I don't know why he stabbed him.”

Police teams took the suspect to the police station. In his initial verbal statement, the suspect claimed that his colleague had been subjecting him to mobbing.
