Murat Emir reacts sharply to Böcek and Yalım's effective remorse testimonies

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir has reacted to the allegations made against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in the testimonies given by the detained Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek and Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım under the scope of effective remorse. While stating that these allegations were brought to the agenda under pressure and threats, Emir also made evaluations regarding the legislative work stated to be carried out under the heading of democratization.

"WE ARE FACING SLANDER THAT STRAINS THE IMAGINATION"

Emir made the following statements:

"They are forcing people to make slanderous statements through all kinds of blackmail and threats, but releases never come. Since the threats and blackmail continue as long as the releases do not come, we are now facing slander that strains the imagination, like in those cheap TV series.

Are you talking about 10 million dollar Sikorskys, or are you talking about sending millions of dollars via a single banknote? Absurd allegations... They think they can tarnish the cadres of the Republican People's Party with this, with this baseness, and lay the groundwork for new operations through it.

Get a grip, be serious. Do not deal with nonsense, deal with the facts. Deal with the country's problems and think about how you will solve the situation Turkey is in. Think about how you will save your party. Therefore, they should stop these absurdities, these scenarios that we would laugh off if we lived in another country, but for which we would truly be ashamed on behalf of their owners and those who make those threats."

"WE UNDERSTAND THAT SOMETHING IS BEING COOKED UP"

In his statement, Emir also touched upon the democratization legislative work that has come to the public agenda. Stating that there has been no contact with the CHP on this issue, Emir argued that the process was not being conducted transparently and made the following assessment:

"Another issue is regarding democratization. We are learning from the press that there is such a legislative effort. To date, there has been no contact, no communication, no effort for cooperation made with us. We understand that something is being cooked up; we do not know its limits, how far it will go, or its criteria.

Someone is preparing something. This is already the reality of the presidential system, this one-man regime. Someone prepares something, makes some plans, makes some dirty calculations, and comes from there; they impose it on Turkey in some way, they impose it on the Parliament."

"PEACE CANNOT BE WITHOUT JUSTICE AND LAW"

Expressing that they stand behind the views in the CHP's commission report, Murat Emir stated that a lasting peace can be achieved together with the principles of law and democracy.

Emir concluded his statement with these words:

"Let them bring it, let us see. But let us say once again that if peace is to be truly built in Turkey, it cannot be without justice, it cannot be without law, it cannot be without democracy. We said these things clearly when we sat on the commission, during the commission, and in our commission report.

'Sir, let us do what we know, democracy for another spring...' It will not work. We will do it all at once. We have written it in our report; we have said 'we will do it simultaneously.' We stand behind our signature, we stand behind our word, we stand behind our stance. We are ready to do our best and make every kind of sacrifice for terrorism to end permanently in this country.

But we expect our interlocutors to finally understand that this much lawlessness, this much injustice, a coup process, and the constant violation of the Constitution, the trampling of the Constitution, must come to an end in Turkey, and that for this, simultaneous steps must be taken as we wrote in the commission report."

WHICH ALLEGATIONS WERE INCLUDED IN THE TESTIMONIES?

It was alleged that the detained Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek and Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım made various claims about CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu in the testimonies they gave under the provisions of effective remorse.

Among the allegations, it was stated that there were claims that Özel requested a twin-engine Sikorsky helicopter and that İmamoğlu asked for money during his presidential candidacy process.
