CHP Chairman Özgür Özel arrived at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Group Executive Board Meeting Hall for a meeting with his staff. Responding to journalists' questions before the meeting, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir made evaluations regarding the agenda.
RESPONSE TO KILIÇDAROĞLU'S WORDS
Upon being reminded of the “FETÖ” and “espionage” expressions used by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the CHP Chairmanship with a decision of absolute nullity, in his speech yesterday, Emir made the following statement:
“We have not taken this upon ourselves in any way. There has never been anyone in our party who would be the subject of such accusations. These discussions, these slanders; these are stale and worn-out slanders that we know have been directed at Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and his team by those circles. It is not meaningful to drag the discussion to other points through these.
There is a struggle here between those who protect the ballot box, want a party convention, and believe in the administrators elected by the party members, and those who are trying to create a 'palace's CHP.'"
WILL THERE BE A GROUP MEETING?
Emir also responded to a question regarding how the CHP's group meeting is determined. Stating that the process is carried out within the framework of the party charter and parliamentary customs, Emir noted the following:
“According to our regulations, our charter, and parliamentary customs, the Group Executive Board determines the time, agenda, and schedule of the Group General Assembly meeting. This legal basis works this way in a 100-year-old party. Next Tuesday is no different from previous Tuesdays.”
QUESTION REGARDING THE OBJECTION PETITION
Upon being reminded that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had submitted an objection petition regarding the re-election of Özgür Özel as group chairman, Emir stated that he did not know the content of the application and said, “I do not know the content of that application, but for us, there is no room for debate on this matter either.”
