Murat Emir's statement on personal real estate: 'The place they exaggerated enough to say he has become the emir of Ankara'

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir responded to allegations regarding his assets that were raised on his social media account.

Following the posts Emir made regarding the title deeds of Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, allegations were raised against him, and posts were made concerning his personal real estate.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir made a statement after the allegations came one after another and used the following expressions:

"I have felt the need to make a statement on my own behalf to put an end to the lies and slanders regarding my personal real estate, which have a clear source and target.

To begin with, I would like to state that my title deed records on E-Devlet are open on my computer in my office, and to show that I will not stoop to the cheapness of hiding assets through filtering tricks, anyone interested can come and check these records. Furthermore, I have been regularly submitting asset declarations to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) since 2015, and I invite the Speaker of the Assembly to disclose all my asset declarations.

First of all, I must state that as a graduate of Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine and a 34-year ophthalmologist, I have worked without mixing the lawful with the unlawful. In addition to scientific studies, I am one of the physicians who pioneered the introduction of many innovations in our country, especially in cataract surgery and laser technologies, at our clinic, which could be considered a small-scale eye hospital that we established with two of my ophthalmologist friends between 2004 and 2011.

As for the allegations and slanders regarding my assets:

My son, who has been working as an investment banker at an international bank for seven years, has no accounts abroad, nor does he have any real estate.

There are a total of 14 real estate properties registered in my name in the land registry. 

Three of these are residences, and one is a duplex dwelling. 

Additionally, there is our modest duplex dwelling in Antalya that I bought in 2004, which my retired mother and father use. Because we have the right to use the social facility (alleged to be a market and a local) and the pool of the complex we are in, along with dozens of other people living there, it appears as three separate title deeds in the system. This situation is visible in the system of everyone who has rights in the complex. 

Of the plots located within the borders of Ankara and appearing as a total of seven separate title deeds, four of them located on the same parcel were acquired in 2018 and have a total size of 567 square meters. Similarly, the total size of the plot in Mamak, which appears as three title deeds on the same parcel, is 272 square meters; the part belonging to the actual plot is 172 square meters, and the remaining amount consists of abandoned areas with no financial value. 

As a result, the place that appears in seven title deeds and which they exaggerated enough to say "he has become the emir of Ankara" is a plot of 840 square meters in total. For those who know, it is obvious that these plots are not even one percent as valuable as claimed.

I know that this statement will not satisfy the trolls and those who have surrendered their conscience to others. 

I would also like to state that we will file a criminal complaint against those who slander and will initiate a lawsuit.
