Murat Kurum criticizes İmamoğlu's 'Hamas' statement: 'It is not humane'

Former People's Alliance IMM mayoral candidate Murat Kurum criticized the remarks made by IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu in an interview via his X account. 

In his post, Kurum stated, "IMM President Mr. İmamoğlu's words regarding Hamas are neither conscientious nor humane." 

Kurum's X post is as follows:

"While tens of thousands of innocent people are being massacred in Palestine before the eyes of the world, while the world's greatest war crimes are being committed, and while genocide is taking place, IMM President Mr. İmamoğlu's words regarding Hamas are neither conscientious nor humane.

Unfortunately, those who claimed to support the Palestinian people and the Palestinian resistance before March 31 have suddenly declared Hamas a terrorist organization today. 

First and foremost, Hamas is not a terrorist organization. Hamas is the honor of Palestine, resisting oppression and Zionist occupation.

Those who exploit the Palestinian cause will certainly be judged by the collective conscience of our noble nation and humanity. 

As we did yesterday, we will continue to stand by Jerusalem and our Palestinian brothers and sisters today."

WHAT HAD HE SAID?

İmamoğlu had spoken to journalist Scott McLean from CNN International. İmamoğlu called Hamas's October 7 attack a 'terrorist attack' and expressed that they are also against the oppression that Palestinians are subjected to today. İmamoğlu had used the following expressions:

"Hamas, of course, carried out an attack in Israel that we are very saddened by. And any structure that carries out these terrorist practices and kills people en masse is a terrorist organization in our view. Today, the same thing is unfortunately being applied to innocent Palestinian people in Israel. I demand that both issues be evaluated in this context as soon as possible and that Palestinians be prevented from being subjected to such oppression. In general, the West does not see the big picture on this issue; it looks at this issue only through the eyes of one side or the other. I think we are looking at it more realistically. We interpret Hamas's attack as a bad attack, a very bad situation, and a terrorist attack. But we also represent a mindset that stands against the oppression that Palestinian women and children killed there are subjected to today."
