Ongun was arrested on March 23 along with other IMM executives, including IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Ongun, who has been detained in Silivri Prison for two months, made the following statement on his X account:
"I expect the authorized bodies of our state to pay attention to this call of mine. Unfortunately, character assassinations are being carried out against us with slanders. The name of this is: MODERN TORTURE
A parking lot attendant named Celal Çakmak has claimed that I demanded a 20 million lira bribe from him to solve his problem. He provides a location, a date, and even claims there is an audio recording. Sabah newspaper is reporting this on half a page.
According to the allegation, the incident took place in 2023. I have been detained for 64 days. The slandering lunatic says, 'I will present the audio recording as soon as possible.' What is this? What is a recording from 2 years ago waiting for? Or is it just 'throw mud, some will stick'?
Of course, I will settle accounts with this slanderer in court. However, the honorable prosecutors can easily determine that this nonsensical slander is a lie. But they are not doing that. Instead, I am being portrayed as a 'briber.' Yet, my honor and dignity are also entrusted to the prosecutors. They must never forget this.
Until now, not a single person—whether a witness, secret witness, slanderer, or confessor—has said, 'Ongun asked me for a bribe, and this is the proof.' Despite this, diagrams are being produced. My name and photo are being linked to people I have no connection with.
This is not enough; I am being lynched in a national newspaper with the slanders of a lunatic or a fraudster.
By the way, who will defend my rights? Is this state not my state too?"
