İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made statements regarding the current political agenda during a television program he attended.

Evaluating CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's call for early elections, Dervişoğlu said, "If there is a need for an early election, it is not requested like a post-dated check. If it is a fundamental need, you can say so directly, but the chairman of the main opposition party set a deadline. Therefore, this means telling Erdoğan, 'You determine the election calendar.'"

Dervişoğlu stated the following:

"360 DEPUTIES REQUIRED FOR ELECTION"

“For an election to be held, a qualified majority of three-fifths, or 360 deputies, is needed in Parliament. If the Justice and Development Party does not have the ability to control the opposition, it is not possible to have an early election decision taken by Parliament at a time of its own choosing.

"THE GOVERNMENT MAY RESORT TO OTHER MANEUVERS"

The government may resort to other political maneuvers to obtain the parliamentary majority necessary to hold an early election. One must avoid language that could facilitate this while speaking. We are closed to a new constitutional amendment; if an early election is a necessity, the President already has such authority and can hold it whenever he wants. It is said that 'According to the current constitution, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan cannot be a presidential candidate again.' When this is said, all strategic planning made for him to become a presidential candidate again will be thwarted.

If you say, 'I am giving you this opening, you can make whatever plans you want,' this government can legitimize all kinds of interventions to keep the President in the presidential office for the rest of his life.”
