Mustafa Çiftçi appointed as Minister of Interior, Akın Gürlek becomes Minister of Justice
A cabinet reshuffle took place following a decree published in the Official Gazette. The Ministers of Justice and Interior have been replaced.

According to the appointment decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç have been removed from their posts.
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek has become the Minister of Justice, and Mustafa Çiftçi has become the Minister of Interior.
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette dated Wednesday, February 11, 2026, with the signature of President Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç have been removed from their posts.
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek has been appointed as Minister of Justice, and Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi has been appointed as Minister of Interior.
DECISION IN THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE
The appointment decisions made by the Presidency have been published in the Official Gazette. Within the scope of decision number 2026/51, new appointments were made to replace the ministers who "requested to be relieved of their duties" and whose requests were accepted.
It was stated that the appointments were made in accordance with Articles 104 and 106 of the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye.
Within the scope of the appointments, Mustafa Çiftçi became the Minister of Interior, and Akın Gürlek became the Minister of Justice.
YERLİKAYA: I EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE TO OUR PRESIDENT
Former Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, who was removed from his post by presidential decree and replaced by Mustafa Çiftçi, used the following expressions in his statement on social media:
"I am handing over my duty as Minister of Interior, which I began on June 4, 2023, with the approval and discretion of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to my esteemed brother Mustafa Çiftçi. I congratulate him and wish him success in his new role. May it be auspicious. I express my gratitude to our President for the great support he provided during my ministry."
TUNÇ: I WISH GÜRLEK GREAT SUCCESS IN HIS DUTY
Former Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, who was replaced by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek, included the following words in his post:
"From now on, we will continue to work for our country and our nation, and to work for the Century of Türkiye with the same excitement as the first day. I wish Mr. Akın Gürlek, who was appointed as Minister of Justice with the approval of our President, great success in his duty."
