MYP Chairman Çayır lashes out at Melih Gökçek: I will ruin you within the bounds of the law

Çayır criticized Gökçek with harsh words, saying, "Throughout my life, neither my hands, nor my face, nor any part of me has been involved in evil or tainted by filth. Especially, my hand has never reached for the Treasury or state property. You grew up in it; you reek of filth everywhere. Given this, are you of the stature to speak against a person like me, against this sacred march I have started, against the nation's resurrection, the Anka march, the march of independence?"

National Way Party (MYP) Chairman Remzi Çayır has reacted to Melih Gökçek, the former Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, who was forced to resign from the post he held for 23 years at the request of the AKP leadership. In a video he released, Çayır stated the following:

"A person who, in past periods, parceled out and sold Ankara as he pleased, who recorded income for himself, his children, and his family—in other words, who became wealthy—is directing insults and labels at me. Who are you? What is your limit, what is your boundary? I have never done business with the state throughout my life. I have never said a single thing I did not believe in.

If a man is honest, I say you are honest. If a man is bad, I say you are bad. Whatever we believe in, we say it and we do it. Even this cannot have a counterpart in you. Because you are a man of every era, every climate. For you, there is only one measure: profit, income, making money, and getting rich. You already achieved this while managing Ankara. Did your sons have any company? From what trade did they earn profit to become wealthy? To say those words to me, you need to have a heart of steel. Pull yourself together.

I am warning you: Do not dare to continue speaking against me. If you have something, put it forward. I do what I believe in. Let your best come. You have neither the power nor the right to insult. If you continue to do so, I will ruin you; within the bounds of the law. Pull yourself together accordingly and stay where you are. We are hearts and lives dedicated to the future of this nation and this country. Who are you? You became rich from the office you held, you acquired titles for yourself from the office you held. We have no office. We have never held any office. But thank God, we have clean names and a clean path."
