Naci Görür and Ahmet Ercan issue warnings following earthquake in Hakkari! 'Pregnant with a magnitude 7 earthquake'

Following the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Hakkari, Ahmet Ercan and Naci Görür issued warnings.

AFAD reported that a 4.3 magnitude earthquake occurred at 06:09 AM with its epicenter in Yüksekova, Hakkari. 

While the earthquake caused brief panic, it was learned from a statement made by the Hakkari Governor's Office that no negative reports had been received.

As the anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş approaches, eyes turned to expert names following the tremor in Hakkari. 

The expected statements came from geologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür and geophysicist Prof. Övgün Ahmet Ercan. Both experts drew attention to the risk in the region and argued that these tremors should not be ignored.

"THIS ISSUE SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED"

Making a statement on his social media account, Naci Görür said, "A 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Kayalık, Hakkari-Çukurca. The earthquake is on the Bitlis-Zagros Thrust Belt. As I have stated before, this belt has likely undergone a certain degree of stress field change and stress loading following the February 6 earthquakes. This issue should not be ignored." he said.


"THE REGION MAY BE PREGNANT WITH A MAGNITUDE 7 EARTHQUAKE IN THE FUTURE"

Ahmet Ercan, in his statement, used the following expressions: "The small M4.1 earthquake that occurred in Kayalık, Çukurca, Hakkari at 06:09 shows that the environment is under stress. The region is pregnant with a magnitude 7 earthquake in the future. I do not know the time." he stated.
