According to AFAD data, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Gemlik district of Bursa on February 23 at 15:14.
While the tremor, which was also felt in surrounding provinces, caused brief panic, Earthquake Expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür shared a post regarding the earthquake on his social media account.
Sharing an image of the fault line where the earthquake occurred, Görür pointed out that the last earthquake took place in 1857.
Görür's post is as follows;
"A 4.0 earthquake also occurred in Gemlik, Bursa. The earthquake is on the southern branch of the NAF, the Gemlik Fault. This fault accumulates stress slowly. The last earthquake was in 1857."
