The 4.6-magnitude earthquake that occurred in Çanakkale yesterday was followed by a new tremor of 3.8 in the evening hours. Several other small earthquakes below 3.8 also occurred in the region.

Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made statements on his social media account following the earthquakes.

Görür stated the following:

"There was a 4.5 earthquake in Beypınar-Lapseki/Çanakkale. There is no fault on the surface on the active fault map. Probably, there was no earthquake in this region strong enough to create a surface rupture, or the fracture (fault) could not be detected. These earthquakes should be interpreted as signs of stress accumulation in the region. With love."
