The National Security Council is meeting to address critical topics. The meeting, to be held at the Palace under the chairmanship of AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will have the latest situation in Syria on its agenda. Turkey is closely monitoring developments in Syria. Steps to be taken in the event of potential population movement are planned to be discussed at the meeting.
COUNTER-TERRORISM ON THE AGENDA
Another issue to be discussed at the NSC is the fight against terrorism. The closed lock in the Zap region of northern Iraq and ongoing operations will be evaluated. Recent developments in areas cleared of terrorism in northern Syria and Iraq will be addressed.
"RED BOOK" TO BE UPDATED
Initiatives aimed at developing the capabilities and capacities of the Turkish Armed Forces are also expected to be on the meeting's agenda. A contract had been signed for the 40 F-16 Block 70 jets planned to be purchased from the US. The procurement of 40 Eurofighters, the delivery of 6 F-35 aircraft currently in hangars in the US to Turkey, and Turkey's readmission to the F-35 program will also be on the table.
The 5-year update period for the National Security Policy Document is nearing completion. The concept of artificial intelligence is expected to be included in the Red Book for the first time. Updates regarding dangers and threats are also anticipated.
