National tennis player Zeynep Sönmez has broken her career record by rising to 65th in the world rankings.

Zeynep climbed 2 spots in the weekly updated Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.

The 24-year-old athlete, who reached the third round of the WTA 1000 level Madrid Open, which was the last tournament she participated in, broke her career record.

The title of the Turkish tennis player with the highest world ranking is held by Çağla Büyükakçay, who reached 60th place in September 2016.
