NATO bans extend beyond Ankara

In a decision dated June 26, the Karabük Governor's Office announced that all actions and events aimed at protesting the NATO Summit are banned throughout the province. It was stated that the ban will remain in effect from the morning of July 1 until midnight on July 10. The governorates of Eskişehir and Mersin also took similar decisions, banning all types of demonstrations and events in Mersin between July 2-10 and in Eskişehir between July 1-10.
It is reported that the decisions taken in recent days are not limited to these provinces alone, and that some other governorates are also considering similar security measures. It had previously been stated that various security practices were implemented in Ankara during the summit and that restrictions on movement across the city had been increased.
According to the report by Karar Gazetesi, while officials stated that these decisions were taken to ensure public order and security, the bans, which are expected to continue throughout the summit, have sparked criticism among the public.
