Many party members, including Revolutionary Party Secretary General Ercan Bölükbaşı and Ankara Provincial Chair Şevket Çavuşoğlu, were detained during a march against the NATO Summit in Ankara.
In a statement issued by the Revolutionary Party under the headline “Patriots must be released immediately,” it was stated:
“Citizens who gathered in Ankara against the imperialist war organization NATO summit, including our party members, have been detained.”
Our Secretary General Ercan Bölükbaşı speaks from the police blockade:

We are here for our country, we are here for independence. We call out to the people of Ankara, witness this baseness! Let us tear off the NATO epaulets placed on shoulders, this dishonor, all together. pic.twitter.com/sobrT2iqSP
The statement included the following remarks:
“The de facto martial law that has been ongoing for weeks in the capital Ankara and the police violence against anti-NATO marches are the product of the collaborative AKP government’s effort to suppress objections to NATO through tyranny. The blockade, which started in Ankara and spread nationwide, is a political operation aimed at suppressing patriotism and independence, far beyond ensuring the ‘security’ of an international meeting.
Turkey is under the de facto occupation of the USA. The AKP government, which continues oil shipments to Israel, which commits crimes against humanity in Palestine, commits another dishonorable act every day to curry favor with the US, the patron of Zionism. As if it were not enough that they declared de facto martial law in the capital Ankara so that their imperialist masters would not be disturbed, they built a special airport for the summit so that Epstein-associate Trump would not be inconvenienced, closed parks to the public so that Macron could go for a morning run, and illuminated the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Istanbul with the colors of the US flag. They had commissioned officers film an Ankara promotional video just to cheer up the war barons.
Imperialism is in crisis, and the AKP government is trying to turn this crisis into an opportunity, attempting to get a share of the spoils by acting as a crutch for the declining US hegemony. It is impossible for our people to accept this ominous role in silence, and for this reason, the AKP is trying to silence objections to its collaborationism.
All attempts to obstruct anti-NATO actions are illegitimate. All patriots who have been held through weeks of unjust detentions and arrests, and those detained today during the actions held upon the call of the No to NATO Coordination in Ankara, must be released immediately.
Down with US imperialism!
Down with NATO!
Long live an independent Turkey!”
