Natural gas explosion in İzmir: Investigation launched
An explosion occurred on the ground floor of a building in the Torbalı district of İzmir. The explosion, caused by an industrial-type gas cylinder, resulted in 5 deaths and 63 injuries. The blast caused damage to 11 buildings in the area. Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that an investigation into the explosion has been launched.

A natural gas explosion occurred on Barış Manço Street in the Torbalı district of İzmir. According to initial reports, 3 people lost their lives in the explosion, which took place around 15:00 at a bakery located on the ground floor of a building.
Many people were injured in the explosion, which was stated to be caused by natural gas.
Upon notification, numerous gendarmerie, fire department, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene.
The injured were taken to surrounding hospitals by ambulances.
Initial images from the scene showed that the surrounding businesses and buildings suffered significant damage due to the impact of the explosion.
The explosion on Barış Manço Street occurred with a loud noise.
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that the explosion occurred at a coffeehouse.
İzmir Governor Süleyman Elban stated that 10 surrounding buildings were damaged.
STATEMENT FROM MINISTER YERLİKAYA
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, in a statement made via his social media account regarding the explosion, noted the following:
Today, an explosion occurred at a restaurant located in the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood in Torbalı, İzmir, which is assessed to have been caused by an industrial gas cylinder according to initial findings. 2 vehicles and 9 personnel from the İzmir Provincial AFAD, and 8 ambulances, 2 UMKE teams, and 36 personnel from the Provincial Health Directorate were dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, 4 of our citizens lost their lives and 35 of our citizens were injured in the explosion. I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to our injured. The investigation into the matter is ongoing. The public will be informed of developments.
