Nechirvan Barzani's provocative response to Bahçeli's SDF remarks: 'Without any guarantees...'
KRG President Nechirvan Barzani has responded to MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's statement that "the SDF/YPG must strictly adhere to the agreement signed with the Damascus administration on March 10." Barzani stated, "These forces have paid extraordinary prices; they cannot be expected to lay down their arms without guarantees of integration."

Speaking to the British press, KRG President Nechirvan Barzani delivered striking messages regarding the process of the SDF/YPG's integration into the Syrian army.
"THE SDF HAS PAID EXTRAORDINARY PRICES..."
While speaking on the future of Syria, Barzani stated, "A decentralized government is of vital importance for Syria." Emphasizing that the SDF has suffered heavy losses on the ground, Barzani said, "The SDF has paid extraordinary prices."
Barzani further noted that the integration process requires security, stating, "You cannot expect them to lay down their arms, take off their uniforms, and blend into society individually without any guarantees for their integration."
BAHÇELİ HAD BROUGHT UP ÖCALAN'S CALL
MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, in a statement to the party-affiliated newspaper Türkgün, had expressed that the SDF/YPG must comply with the provisions of the agreement made with the Damascus administration on March 10.
Bahçeli had made the following assessments:
"The 'founding leadership of the PKK' has taken responsibility. Following the February 27 Call for Peace and Democratic Society, the PKK laid down its arms on May 12 and dissolved its organizational existence. On July 11, a group of PKK members burned their weapons. In particular, the SDF/YPG, which has an area of influence in northeastern Syria, has not yet laid down its arms and has not complied with the February 27 Imralı call. However, the Imralı call covers all components of separatist terrorism, not just the PKK. At least that is how we understand it, and our interpretation is in this direction. The SDF/YPG must strictly adhere to the agreement signed with the Damascus administration on March 10."
