Ahmet Hakan, Editor-in-Chief of the Hürriyet newspaper, which is part of the pro-government Demirören Holding, drew backlash with an article he wrote regarding the recent drug operation targeting several famous figures.

In his column, Hakan wrote, "Those states, those attitudes, those attractions, those crazes, those insolences... It seemed like they necessarily required substance use."

REACTION FROM NEVŞİN MENGÜ

Journalist Nevşin Mengü responded to these remarks by Ahmet Hakan on her social media account. Sharing a photo of Hakan with messy hair and footage of him smelling oil on CNN Türk, Mengü stated, "Then someone who makes these movements might also be using substances or might have taken a stimulant. Things have gotten out of hand."

In recent days, several famous figures were taken from their homes on charges of "encouraging drug use" and were all released following tests.
